I wasn't escaping from anything, or needing to prove skills or ability. Nor was
I turning my back on consumer society. Or trying to know my inner self or test
humanity's further limits - none of that rubbish. It was just that this was what
I most desired in the world. To spend a whole year on my own. Just once.
And why exactly? I hadn't the faintest idea.
